As a Nurse practitioner working in a healthcare organization, teamwork is an essential factor that defines the success of care delivery within an organization. Coordination of health care uses teamwork and better communication to widen the conventional responsibilities of health care workers. Quality team collaboration within practice enables quality and safer healthcare, enabling the advancement of healthcare practices to address recurring issues (Kapur, 2020). An effective team is built through good leadership. Effective leadership is characterized by essential values such as principles, self-confidence, and proficiency in skills that drive the necessary motivation for a team to instill their associative values towards them. Good Leadership is the foundation of a team, and effective leaders should ensure that all team members develop amicable relations.
In healthcare teams, the main objective across all members is to improve patient health outcomes. The goal is shared by every health worker associated with the healthcare services and indicates that a patient-centered approach is beneficial across healthcare delivery systems., Therefore, shared goals and Objectives among team members assist them in defining their healthcare roles and responsibilities in improving the living standards of patients (Wasik, 2018). Suppose a team is goal-oriented to the cost benefits solely. In that case, various healthcare challenges may occur, such as equity in healthcare access as well as poor patient retention, which may benefit the cost returns for the institution., Therefore teams should be based on goals and objectives that encompass a patient-centered regime aimed at meeting patient demands while also incorporating qual financial policies that standardize healthcare costs which will benefit the patient and the healthcare institution.
An effective team is also based on the communication practices that they use. Effective and Clear communication builds trust and aligns the team’s objectives to achieve. Miscommunication in healthcare teams is a significant source of health risks to patients among numerous hazards such as wrong medications and errors in medical interventions for patients, which may harm their health outcomes. Technological advancements have also introduced easier communication channels between practitioners and patients (Rosen et al., 2018). Effective healthcare information communication enables patients and their family members to engage as active participants in their treatment, improving associative health outcomes.
All associative team members have to have clearly defined roles. Suppose each member fully understands their obligation to meet the organizational objectives. In that case, operations will be more aligned and well oriented, and if one doesn’t comprehend their role in the team, they hinder operations drastically and may affect the whole team. In practice., practitioners are guided through the scope of effective healthcare delivery enforced by leaders (Wasik, 2018). The roles are defined by values such as integrity, politeness, patience, and honesty across all others that they may associate with their professional obligations. Defining the team’s functions makes it easier for healthcare workers to identify errors, amend them, and provide quality healthcare consistently across every department. Effective teams across organizational operations make it easier to advance professionalism and value for the associated members. Patients’ outcomes also drastically improve when associates collaborate toward a shared goal and objective of patient-centered care practices.
