Theory, Practice and Research
An evident and complex interrelationship between research theory and practice operates as the nursing cornerstone. Researchers believe the relationship between the pillars is cyclical and reciprocal (Das, 2019). The cycle begins with research which guides the nursing practice by building knowledge from developing theory. Continuous feedback between research and practice happens through careful observation and applying ideas in any field (O’Byrne, 2018). The set theory then guides the research hence improving practice. This essay elaborates on the interrelationship between the cornerstone of nursing.
Nursing practice effectiveness depends on proper applications of skills, knowledge, and patient care by focusing on unique people. Researchers carry out a systematic investigation of the population and samples to collect valuable nursing knowledge. At the same time, theorist maintains their focus on the interrelationship of general and abstract knowledge. The endorsement of theory and research generates knowledge through regular consumption, solidifying practice (Prentice et al., 2020). Elsewhere, research energizes learning into developing care ideas, especially in the nursing field. The theories lead to a generation of proven, evidence-based theoretical practices supported through research’s conceptual perspectives.
In conclusion, nursing education requires a research process to generate conceptual approaches and theories leading to proper patient care. The research gets included in the curriculum level and any other levels, including social and professional, to fulfil its formative function (Supplemental material for factors predicting the development of psychopathology among first responders: A prospective, longitudinal study, 2020). The research generates broad knowledge into forming frameworks of continuous growth in practice (Chanthamith et al., 2019). The nursing profession faces an ongoing challenge of maintaining a crucial relationship between research, principles, and practice. Practice should arouse curiosity leading to research ideas; then, their answers would lead to principles creating an evidence-based practice.
